Here is the story,

The home owner Ross was updating his kitchen in Monroe New Jersey and looking up ( tile installers near me ) I came up on google and Ross reached out to me, asked me if I was interested in the project. I said yes and we grabbed a phone call disucss further. I was able to understand what Ross and his wife wanted, after that I was able to give Ross and his wife a ballpark price. They were ok with that, so our next step was to schedule the on site consultation. I went out took mesaurments of the backsplash which they currently had one that needed to me removed since they were also replacing the counter top and needed it removed so they can install the counter tops first and then the new backsplash. Ross and his wife then picked out a tile at a local tile store ( Maxsam ) and order it.

Now first step was to remove old backsplash. I had to removed the wall board down to the studs, and replace. I was. able to do all that in one day luckily.

Next step was to have the counter tops installed.

Then last step was to install the hand made style 3” x 8” ceramic tile in a running bond pattern ( 50% ) offset, which took a total of 4 days on site and roughly 24 hours . I set the tile with thin-set mortar and then grouted the tile with Bostik un-sanded grout.

I also caulked around the perimeter where the tile met cabinets, wood , etc. And siliconed where the tile met the counter top and the inside corner. Caulking and silicone is the best way to allow for movement in the Tile assembly. If the whole perimeter was grouted it will most likely crack and need to be re-done over and over.

Ross and his wife are retired and now will have this beatiful kitchen to enjoy thru there golden years .
