Today will be all about how to water proof you're Tiled shower in East brunswick New Jersey, Monroe township New Jersey, Old Bridge township New Jersey. This can be bath tub walls or a walk in shower that has a tile or acrylic pan for the base. There are many methods.

They all will have there pro’s and con’s

I will start will my preferred method. I currently like to use a foam boards for my shower walls. There are many on the market today. To name a few. Also I am NOT affiliated with any of these companies.

Wedi
Go board
Schluter
Laticrete

Those are the main ones. There is a few knock offs I will not mention.

I currently us Laticrete hydro ban board for all my shower walls

For the base of a walk in shower with a curb I most times will use Schluter Kerdi sheet membrane. And when possible 2 coats of liquid laticrete hydro ban.

Ok now you might be wondering how should I waterproof my shower?

Well it depends on your budget.

Least expense material wise will be to use a cement board on the shower walls, and 2 coats of a liquid membrane on top
Next will be cement boards with a sheet membrane of your choice
Most expensive material wise will def me a foam board.

All that said above, the fastest way is a foam board using the sealant made for the system to put them together.

Now the only way you can use drywall in a shower is if you use Schluter Kerdi membrane on top. No other manufacture will approve. Only Schluter. Mainly because Kerdi sheet membrane is vapor tight in a residential shower. So the board won’t ever see moisture.
