Welcome back, Donnie here with Donnie D’s Tile&Remodeling LLC out of Spotswood New Jersey.
Today i'm going to be talking about curbless showers the pros and the cons at least from my experience in my opinion what are the pros and the cons of a curbless shower.
Curbless showers i've done quite a few of them over the years and they're becoming more popular and you really can't go wrong with a curbless shower. I have a list here of pros and cons, what it's like to have a curbless shower.
Pros
Maybe if you want one done you know what you can look for and things like that so really to sum it up quick there's a lot more pros and then there is cons for a curbless shower. So let's start off with the pros of having a curbless shower.
No Curb
You have no curb if you know if you don't know what a curb it is it's kind of the step that you have to walk into the shower typically when you frame them out with 2x4’s or foam board. FInish curbs end up 4”- 6”’s typiclally.
Curbless shower means you have no curb if you know, if you don't know what a curb it is it's kind of the step that you have to walk over into the shower. so it's really good for someone that's in a wheelchair handicap you don't have to lift your legs it's so easy to do walk in and walk out just imagine that don't have to lift your leg over a bathtub the shower curve you walk in you walk out so easy entry and exit of the shower.
2 . Most size baths
You can have them in most size bathrooms.
3. Shower curtain or door
No need for a shower door or shower curtain. Yes the water can slash out, but the whole bathroom floor will ( should be ) waterproofed outside of the shower.
4. Easy cleaning
Since the shower floor runs right into the bathroon floor, it makes getting everything clean a breeze.
5. Design
You add really luxury features in the shower like, benches, heated floor, niches, shelfs, lighting, etc.
6. Aesthetics
After all this work you have done in your home. You can really see the beautiful shower you have, even more so with out a shower door
Cons
1 . Water
The water may get get outside the shower and stay out there if the floor it un level. Another reason why hiring the best is the only option.
2. Waterproofing done improperly
Water proofing a bathroom for a curbless shower is so critcal in everyway. This will make or break the project.
